Frequently Asked Questions

What is Votigram and how does it work? +
Votigram is a blockchain-powered democratic platform that enables secure, transparent voting and civic engagement across Kenya and Africa. We use Base L2 blockchain technology to ensure every vote is tamper-proof and verifiable, while supporting multiple access methods including web, mobile, USSD, and SMS to ensure everyone can participate regardless of their device or internet access.
How do I join the Votigram waitlist? +
Simply visit our homepage, enter your email address and Twitter handle, and click "Join Waitlist." You'll receive a confirmation email with your position number and estimated access date. We're rolling out access to 50 new users each week, so the earlier you join, the sooner you'll get access!
Is my vote really private and secure? +
Absolutely! We use advanced cryptographic techniques to ensure complete voter privacy. While all votes are recorded on the blockchain for transparency and verification, your identity is never linked to your vote. We only verify that you're a real person eligible to vote - everything else remains completely anonymous.
Do I need cryptocurrency or a wallet to vote? +
Not necessarily! While our platform runs on blockchain technology, we handle all the technical complexity for you. For basic participation, you can vote via USSD (*384*VOTE#) or SMS without any crypto knowledge. For advanced features and poll creation, we provide easy wallet setup guides and cover transaction costs for eligible users.
How does USSD voting work? +
USSD voting works on any mobile phone, even basic feature phones. Simply dial *384*VOTE# from your registered phone number, follow the menu prompts to select active polls, choose your option, and confirm. Your vote is automatically recorded on the blockchain. This ensures that even users without smartphones or internet access can participate in democratic processes.
What is WorldID verification and why do I need it? +
WorldID is a privacy-preserving human verification system that uses iris scanning to prove you're a unique human without revealing your identity. This prevents bots, fake accounts, and multiple voting while maintaining complete anonymity. WorldID verification is required for high-stakes polls like national referendums, ensuring true one-person-one-vote democracy.
Can I change my vote after submitting it? +
This depends on the poll settings. Some polls allow vote changes until the deadline, while others (especially official elections) lock your vote immediately for security. The poll creator sets these rules, and you'll see whether vote changes are allowed before you submit. All vote changes are tracked on the blockchain for complete transparency.
How can I create my own poll or referendum? +
Once you have platform access, creating polls is easy! Go to "Create Poll," set your question and options, choose verification requirements (phone, ID, or WorldID), set geographic restrictions if needed, and publish. Community polls are free, while larger public polls may require a small fee to prevent spam. Government and NGO partners get special rates.
